Research Infrastructure Services Projects
The Research Infrastructure Services projects are part of the RIS mission to facilitate the discovery of knowledge and enhance educational opportunities by providing secure, sustainable, scalable, and integrated research technology services in a collaborative and diverse environment. These capital projects have been approved and funded by governance, and implementation project teams have been established to help gather requirements and facilitate the education and consumption of these new services. The PPMO of the CIO manages these projects.
After one year of gathering requirements and executing RFPs and POCs, Qumulo was selected as the new vendor for the Storage Solution Project. This new platform will provide twice the performance, reduce operational complexities, and include offsite backups and disaster recovery capabilities. Storage2 is available for general use, new allocations, and condos. The transition will vary depending on the research group.
After nine months of gathering requirements and executing RFPs, Dell Technologies was selected as the new Scientific Compute Operational Platform Expansion (SCOPE) vendor. With additional hardware and software components from Nvidia and Vast, this expansion will upgrade, update, and expand the high-performance compute platform RIS maintains.
By the numbers:
