High Performance Computing Research Facilitator II

RIS is searching for an experienced, and customer support focused HPC Facilitator to assist researchers and students with enhancing their research project workflows. Our team culture is laid-back and fun, but our team is very seriously dedicated to creating leading-edge, highly efficient products for our researchers. Through applications, and other information systems solutions within a high-performance computing environment, this postilion will support faculty researchers throughout all phases of moderately complex computing solutions, including installations, upgrades, software, hardware, operating systems, and operating system configuration issues. The team member will develop and implement training for researchers and students in the areas of simple scripting, software applications, data management, and security compliance. Experience working in higher education and knowledge of data workflows and informatics is a preferred. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in either computer science or a science related field plus three years experience in a high-performance computing environment, or equivalent combination of experience/education. Experience working with at least one statistical or computational environment (R, SPSS, Stata, Python, etc.). Knowledge and experience with the deployment of infrastructure systems (high performance computing, storage, network, databases, and virtualized systems).

Applications Engineer III

RIS is searching for an experienced applications developer to join our team. The right person for this position is passionate, smart, loves what they do as much as we do and is ready to hit the ground running with our collaborative team. This team member will provide advanced support of cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new, modifying, and supporting existing software applications. They will lead complex projects requiring specialized technical knowledge and possess innovative thinking. Advanced and comprehensive knowledge of applications systems development and the systems they support, along with knowledge of other information technology functions to apply a broad and interactive perspective to applications development is required. You will also have specialized knowledge of appropriate programming languages and development tools and the ability to complete difficult development and programming tasks.

RIS Interns

RIS offers intern opportunities in hardware, software, and systems engineering.  RIS interns have the opportunity to be an integral part of an innovative and passionate team. If you’re excited by a team environment, if you are curious, like to learn new technologies, and you adapt well to change, a RIS internship may be right for you.

Successful intern candidates will have a passion for the customer, and the details that make their experience with our services exceptional.  You will be passionate about current state-of-the-art hardware and software technologies and tools, have a curiosity and an excitement about working with and learning new technologies. You will be excited by a team environment, and be willing to take on new and unexpected challenges.

Bonus points (but not required) if you have non-academic coding experience (i.e code challenges, personal projects, GitHub, Open Source, etc.)  Experience with Linux operating systems, scripting skills, knowledge of configuration management systems (i.e. Puppet, Ansible), experience with major cloud platforms (i.e. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc.)
