Research Infrastructure Services (RIS) provides many systems to support research, data transfer, and data storage at Washington University. Please request a consultation if you need assistance integrating our research technologies into your projects.
Data Storage
The Data Storage Platform is a scalable, high-performance, distributed storage infrastructure with integrated long-term archiving capabilities. It has many enterprise-level features to facilitate data analysis, management, curation, and retention. All faculty involved in research have access to 5TB of Active storage at no cost.
Scientific Compute
The Scientific Compute Platform provides WashU research faculty access to computing resources and a job scheduler that runs large-scale, parallel computing tasks with access to many CPU and GPU cores, large amounts of RAM, high-speed networks, and high-performance storage systems.
WUSTL Secure Enclave
The WUSTL Secure Enclave service supports the NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2 security standard, required for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Genomic Data Sharing (GDS) Policy by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). Suppose you’re planning to respond to a federal funding opportunity involving CUI. You must have appropriate cybersecurity measures to accept the grant or contract, which includes research data and project information generated during federally funded work.
National Science Foundation Resources
Need advanced computing and storage options for your research or classroom? The ACCESS program was established and funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation to help you, the nation’s researchers and educators, use some of the country’s most advanced computing systems and services at no cost to you.
National Research Project
Funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation to provide free access to non-profit research and education institutions. You can use this infrastructure if your work is related to a scientific project or educational use in the U.S.
