RIS will be transitioning to a consumption model for the Data Storage Platforms. We will offer Active and Archive storage options when updated rates go into effect on October 1st, 2025.
❗️Why it matters
Under the new model, users are billed for storage based on consumption. This represents a significant change that removes the subscription and condo cost models to reduce complexity for easier budgeting and billing, while providing the same cost regardless of the size of the data stored.
💲Billing & Rates
- Billed every month for storage that is consumed, not allocated.
- Annual and per-project billing arrangements are available to meet grant requirements.
- Rates may be subject to change annually from 3% to 5%.
- Each faculty member will receive 5TB of free storage
