Facilities Statement for Grant Proposals

Short Version: One paragraph, for space-constrained proposals.

WashU IT Research Infrastructure Services (RIS) operates a 15,600 sq. ft., LEED Gold, HIPAA-compliant data center with fully redundant power and cooling, badge-secured entry, and security cameras. Redundant 100 Gb firewalls connect it to the campus, the internet, two remote data centers, and Google Cloud. An HDR/NDR InfiniBand fabric serves the storage and compute platforms. Storage includes more than 35 PB of IBM Spectrum Scale, a 17 PB Qumulo cluster with remote replication, and a 30 PB tape library. Computing is provided by Compute2 (5,000 CPU cores, 64 H100 GPUs, Slurm) and Compute1 (15,192 CPU cores, 242 GPUs, LSF). Software is delivered through containers and Lmod modules, the Open OnDemand web portal, and supported applications such as CryoSPARC, DRAGEN, Nextflow, and Globus. The platforms are approved for ePHI and support HIPAA and NIST SP 800-171/NIH Genomic Data Sharing requirements; the WashU Secure Enclave supports CUI and CMMC. Dedicated engineering, application development, and research facilitation teams offer service-desk support, consulting, training, documentation, and grant proposal and budgeting help.
