RIS & DI2 Partner for Digital Transformation Summer Corps

Digital Intelligence and Innovation (DI2) held its inaugural Digital Transformation Summer Corps this year. This program invited students with software development and digital science skills to work alongside faculty like RIS to accelerate digitally enabled research projects at WashU. Our partnership provided student teams with high-performance GPUs to develop AI algorithms throughout their projects.

One student team, in particular, collaborated with us to develop three RIS tools to facilitate access to and use of our services at WashU, as our services can be complex to use without prior knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC).

Tools created for RIS while leveraging RIS resources:

  • A chatbot trained on RIS documentation to answer technical questions.
  • A streamlined process for generating Docker images tailored to researchers’ needs.
  • A GPU usage monitor to help users better understand and optimize their computational workloads.

These tools lay the foundation for making our services accessible and usable to the research community at WashU.
