DESCRIPTION:\nThe Subscription Tier will be retired September 30\, 2026\, as we continue to move toward the decommission of Compute1 on July 1\, 2027.\n\n\n\n❓Why\n\n\n\nThis transition allows us to focus on Compute2\, the next-generation of high-performance computing at WashU\, ensuring researchers have access to more modern and efficient resources.\n\n\n\nMoving forward\, Slurm Reservations will be available on Compute2 starting September 1\, 2026. Slurm reservations allow WashU researchers to lock in dedicated Compute2 nodes with CPUs or GPUs for fixed windows. Perfect for tight deadlines\, projects\, or time-sensitive runs.\n\n\n\n\n\n💪🏻 Benefits or reservations:\n\n\n\n\nGuaranteed and exclusive access to resources\n\n\n\nReduced wait time\n\n\n\nPredictable scheduling\n\n\n\n\n\n\n✅ Our priority:\n\n\n\n\nMinimize disruption\n\n\n\nEnsure a smooth transition to Compute2\, the future of high-performance computing at WashU.\n\n\n\nContinue to offer support for your research computing needs during this transition.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n📢 Actions to take:\n\n\n\n\nReview the Compute1 Decommission Timeline.\n\n\n\nCoordinate with your sponsor regarding migration planning to Compute2.\n\n\n\nMeet with a RIS Facilitator to discuss setting up a Slurm reservation on Compute2 or use the general queues after September 30\, 2026.\n\n\n\nContact us at the RIS Service Desk with questions or concerns.\n\n
