Electronic Lab Notebook Offering Launching for Research Community

In early September, the Research Infrastructure Services (RIS) group—part of Washington University Information Technology — began piloting WashU ELN, an electronic lab notebook service powered by LabArchives. The LabArchives Electronic Lab Notebook is a cloud-based application that facilitates the creation, storage, sharing and management of research data.

RIS will trial the service during the fall with key partners and will launch campus-wide availability of LabArchives in the spring of 2020. If members of the University research community want to access LabArchives before the campus-wide launch, they can do so under a self-service model. University-wide support of the service won’t begin until spring 2020.

This service is made available through a sponsorship from the Vice Chancellor for Research (VCR) and the Chief Information Officer (CIO), to the Washington University research community. It will be made available at no cost to the University research community.

RIS invites the research community to participate in upcoming LabArchives training sessions. Visit the WashU ELN service page on the WashU IT website to learn more about the service and upcoming online and on-site training opportunities.
